Here I am in Cataluña, near Barcelona in Callus for the Technology in Samll Villages conference. Very, very interesting, especially the idea of preparing small vilalges-towns for the arrival of connectivity, the fact that some of these people have already done their Wimax testing, that a FiWi network as an alternative to the Telefonica (Spanish equivalent to BT) is being built, and that I can bump into someone who knows how to sort out wi-fi over a rural train line here! The Digital Terriroties project is mind-blowingly advanced, and it has already been discussed about bringing a group of techies and councillors and community-minded people across from UK to look round it. Bropadband twinning is of course the idea of the week, and what with discovering rope and train connections here, looks like Wensleydale and Callus are potentials as the first twinning exercise!

Other things of interest are the Building Broadband Britain conference which is on today in UK ' judging by the reports on the Spanish news last night and at this conference, UK is getting ever further behind but itl be interesting to read Timms'speech and see whether the central thinking has advanced over the last couple of months.

Found http://www.arrakis.com/ which suprise surpise is a BT group company offering wireless ADSL in Spain to add to my collection of BT group companies, listed in http://del.icio.us/access2broadband.

We have meshed from this bus! Heading for the Top 40 right now but last Easter (2003) the poor baby broke down in the middle of our Vintage mesh experiment. EdenFaster has tried its kit out on vintage buses and trucks which seem to be summat to do with Lins...........
